Gourangi Agent is a network packet-capture based application which monitors your network and processes data of interest based on the KPIs defined in Gourangi Enterprise Server. This data is then processed and sent to Gourangi Enterprise Server for further processing such as Alerting.

At its core it captures data packets in your network using our data capture extension and stiches packets belonging to a particular HTTP session. For accelerated and fast processing it uses XML parsing and based on XPath. Gourangi Agent is optimized to look at only XML data in your network and is restricted to processing data only if it matches predefined KPI parameters.

To manage Agents across your network Gourangi Enterprise Server provides an interface which allows you to monitor agaents, update KPI definitions, Start as well as stop a remote Agent. All activities of the Agent is caputred and that metrics can be analyzed later.

The Agent framewok supports HTTP/TCP protocol out of the box and can be extended to support any transport protocol such as UDP, DCCP as well as SCTP. Once a transport layer has been established you can also deal with the application layer to understand protocols such as BGP, DHCP, DNS, FTP, GTP, HTTP, IMAP, IRC, Megaco, MGCP, NNTP, NTP, POP, RIP, RPC, RTP, RTSP, SDP, SIP, SMTP, SNMP, SOAP, SSH, Telnet, TLS/SSL, XMPP.

Froma deployment perspective connectors can be either centralized where it can hook up with a router and monitor the network or placed in specific Server node from where it will consume data packets. In the centralized mode the network traffic will be heavy thus mandating a high memory server installation on the otherhand in a distributed deployment model it will consume less memory.
